Well, NOW we know how they intend to make money off it! I predict that this will generally be met by North American Hereford Breeders with a big "Ho Hum".

So how many of ya has signed up already. Looks like they had a plan, the company started back Sept 2017. Hope it works out for them. They need to get some younger breeders interested in keeping HOP alive, a company of 70/80 year olds going to be tough to keep viable.

With Neogen genomic testing in most countries, why would someone want to do their testint thru them?
If they are testing for Hereford Breed Purity, then that is the test that they should be offering everyone no matter the country. That would be more appropriate!

So how many of ya has signed up already. Hell! I cannot even get the "official" results on the straw of 7777 semen that I provided them and I was promised! So, why would this 69 year old want to sign up? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME!

George, what do you plan to use your 23D semen on?

George, what do you plan to use your 23D semen on? Tim, I wasn't going to use the 7777 semen. I got it among a bunch of "old" semen that I bought from a rep in 2003. I had kept it in hopes that some reputable university or company would develop a test that could determine breed percentage/purity that would definitively provide the answer to 7777's breed percentage. That was what I thought I was getting when I provided a straw to this bunch for testing. However, that promise devolved into some sort of a pass/fail test where folks have to pay to actually see the results. Then one of the principals involved started making claims that virtually all North American Herefords are impure and the only NA herd that has a righteous claim to the name "Hereford" is Lents. Frankly, if that is the case, then "real Herefords", as a breed, are of very little use in the North American beef industry.

George, obviously I was having a little fun. I agree with you about the results of this study, there are no North American Herefords that qualify for HOP that are useful in todays beef industry. The other thing I have gotten from it is the old breeders like you that know what a Hereford looks like are right when you question the ancestry of the shit you see in the Hereford World. That proof alone is worth whatever contributions people like you and I have made.

I believe they shot themselves in the foot somewhat with the earlier claims of American Herefords are 50% or less original population. If they had said they were developing a test to find more HOP and left it at that, when the testing was available (now) I might would have joined and got some tested. Now to me there's no point, already know the answer to some degree.
