Putting in some Limousin embryos today. Got to thinking - AI these black Limousin to Trust, get baldy calves that are about 20% Hereford. Qualify for CHB.

Why bother, black Limo's are at least 51% angus just sell them has CAB it pays more.

I guess that is my point. Under this administration and National, CHB has no relationship to their charter. Keep in mind that National is now 82% owned by Marfrig, a Brazilian company. The employee in charge of CHB for "us" is married to a Marfrig executive. Does anyone think the pillow talk is about how to increase the price of Herefords for us and the cost to Marfrig?

Why can't you as breeders start a new certified program and bypass the AHA?

When the mental midget called John Loewan engineered this disaster, Greater Omaha was forced out of CHB and they took their $600000 per year royalties with them. GO's branded product is the true CHB.

I've never understood the mentality surrounding CHB, it has never been a priority from what I can see and now it has been gave away.
It's been twenty five or thirty years ago the breeder Dad was buying bulls from made a point of getting the CHB feeder buyer to the sell when Dad sold his calves then he said they sold too high for him to buy.I know there is limits on buyers for what they pay but where was the target they were aiming for as far as the quality that was being fed.

I showed a guy around last week, he liked my cattle but he could not afford to buy bulls from me because he would get beaten up on the red hided calves. CHB needs to be just for red whitefaced calves, the black baldies have home at CAB.

CHB needs to be just for red whitefaced calves, the black baldies have home at CAB. That is what everyone around here says but I have watched our calves sale the last 3 years and on average our solid red calves have brought more than the solid black calves. The red calves with white markings did not do as well as the solid red but they did better than the black calves with white markings. It may be a local thing here but it might surprise him if he checked the averages. It think a lot of the Black brings more is perception more than reality.
