I was thumbing through my copy of the Lasater Philosophy of Cattle Raising and came across this quote:
"Possibly the most dangerous thing that can happen to a breed of cattle is for it to become overly popular … … Any purebred man whose top selling bulls are too expensive for a progressive commercial operator is pricing himself out of the market. Inflated prices, with the resultant slowdown in culling, have ruined many breeds of cattle and some of the breeds most popular today, which are undoubtedly fine cattle, are being ruined by the people who are promoting them for their own short term financial gain."
These words are more relevant today than when Laurence wrote them in 1972.
