It was on the cover of Hereford Journal , March 72 Denver report issue I am pretty sure. My counting reference is the third group on the right. Probably one of the reasons we did not win.
Upstream won. We had some spring calves under the weather and I chose not to take them over to the rodeo arena. It was quite a venture to go under I-70 through the tunnel and wind around to get there. To have as large as representation as possible AHA wanted every herd represented. Those that did not have 10 would even be asked to combine to make 10 head display. AHA fieldmen would get people to lead cattle for you. Sometimes everything from partially anebreiated to high school girls. Always worried me that we would get a valuable animal crippled. Dealing with concrete in places and the animals " kicking up their heals" when they hit the dirt of the arena. Gave each Herdsman $25 to be a part of it. Did not pro rate mine. Glad I was able to be a part of history. The next year we were in the hunt but could not get around Upstream. They were hard to beat on uniformity.
