I have just seen that our fieldman has been poached by the Angus Association. I guess this makes four that have jumped over recently. I am getting a little tired of the Hereford Association being the training ground for the AAA.

Yes; but let's face it, {to put this in a sports analogy}if you were playing for the MN Vikings and had a chance to play for the New England Patriots how long would it take you to change uniforms?

"Let's make Herefords GREAT again!!!!!!" Look at it this way... Most fieldmen when hired by the AHA were looking for a better job. When they hired on they were still looking for a better job.

I know someone who would be good as a fieldman but I can't in good faith recommend the job to her because the culture of AHA is toxic.

So 4 left the AHA and took jobs with another association, I assume that means 4 left there to make room for them, sounds like they can't keep the employee's happy either huh!

The size of the territories is bound to be an issue. From central Canada to the Oklahoma line is a lot of real estate to try to cover. Afraid this is just a fact of life as to where we are in the scheme of things.

I believe it is a sign of the times if anything. Everywhere you go good employees are jumping to better jobs. Some of those employees may move to 6-7 different places of employment in their lifetime. If you have great employees you had better take outstanding care of them. There are some businesses actively trying to poach them...

What we need going forward is an association staff and board that, at a fundamental level, loves the breed and is devoted to representing the whole of the breed.
