Last week, I had an afternoon free so I went down to visit our AHA board member's farm. Beautiful place, well worth the visit if you are coming to California. As we looked at the cattle, I pointed out that both of our operations among others haven't received recognition as Golden Breeders for fifty years of breeding registered Herefords and that that needed to be fixed retroactive to when we crossed that threshold. Just off the top of my head, the herds that need to be recognized include: Cooper, Holden, Fort Keogh, Pedretti, Day, Lents, Diemert and Bernt.

I think AHA has had word out asking for Gold and Century Breeders to apply for the award. If you let them know I bet they will make it happen. It is a nice recognition.

It shouldn't be a matter of asking for the award, the recognition should be given automatically. I don't care so much about the award for myself, it is more about giving recognition to some people who are dedicated to the breed. I wouldn't still have registered cows if it wasn't for the help I got from Tim and Ace. Geno Pedretti is a legend and deserves recognition while he can still enjoy it.

I never paid any attention to the dates but I guess Dad had his bases covered back in the day. Attachments:
