You mean he does not look like an American Hereford and you lack the knowledge to know the difference?

Looks like Haven Wizard, from what I remember you gotta watch the birth weights and daughters could milk a little better.

Yes, that is Haven Wizard. I have to thank Edward Lewis for going through the effort of getting his semen qualified and into the USA. Although, he is from England, Wizard in phenotype and pedigree reminds me so much of the Ochs Brothers cattle that got me into Herefords. I bred him to cows that need some power and will take of his rough edges. I am looking forward to seeing his calves.

He might be from Herefordshire but his pedigree is heavily Canadian. Nosey, but if you don't mind answering: "How much does his semen cost and how much does it cost to get it imported?"

Edward Lewis has Wizard semen stored in the U.S. so we didn't have to mess with the importation process. But before finding Wizard, I made inquiries about importing semen from breeders and studs in Australia, Canada and Ireland as well as the UK. The shipping costs is variable depending on whether the semen is combined as part of a larger shipment. The issue is the costs and regulations of collecting semen for export are onerous to the point of being prohibitive for all but the big stud companies to justify. If you want more information on getting semen from the UK, I would recommend contacting Philip Halhead at Norbreck Genetics.

I know two breeders who used him. Useless cows, not much milk, too big and couldn’t breed back in an extensive system

I know two breeders who used him. Useless cows, not much milk, too big and couldn’t breed back in an extensive system I don't doubt you, Harley and I planned my matings accordingly. My goal for Haven Wizard is to sell his sons to grass fed beef producers who might not be interested in saving heifers and need something that will put weight and finish on grass. I wholeheartedly agree that moderating cow size is important. But I have never found a way to justify reducing calf weights to get there. Heck, if there too big, I'll sell them pound and buy back a skinny cow of the range.

100 pound calf. I am really proud of his dam. The rains came late last fall and she bred up under tough conditions.
