Great photos, lovely cattle! Impressive set of horns for a young boy in last picture!

I just took his horn weights off the other day. He is exactly 18 months old in the picture.

Really appreciate seeing horns. Makes bulls look like bulls. Heifers look good too.

What's the age of heifer and bull calves? Nice bull calf.

I thought I answered but guess it didn't send. Bull calf almost exactly 6 months. Heifer almost 6 and 1/2 months. Heifer is out of a heifer

Compared with the growth I have in my herd I would have guessed around 10 months. Unfortunate not to have hornless L1's.

Inbreeding depression? Heifer raising her first calf ever. Calf is a little inbred rascal. 34% IBC according to AHA.

That white leg has sure shown up in a lot of my "inbreds".

Not that it matters to anyone but me, maybe, but those cattle aren't pampered and the calves are NOT creeped. The reason I got so "overexcited" and posted so many pics was that yesterday was the first time I had driven up to that lease in 14 days to check on those cows. They truly are on autopilot. I wasn't going to go until Tuesday after the 9-15 tax deadline but my brain was fried yesterday afternoon and I decided to go check cattle to settle down.

Any cake? Looks that the first one should be a little heavier compared relative to the others. On friday we wheighted all our calves, one year and one week old: 662 lb steers and 642 lb heifers, 180 heads total.

I do feed cake when I check them. For instance that lease has 22 pairs on it. I haven't checked it in 14 days so 44 head got 50# or 1.14# each and if you "dailize" this (because they were only caked once in 14 days) it comes out to .08# per head per day. Practically zero. I just feed it so they stay "pavlovtized" to my horn, so when I need to check them, I can get them up.
First heifer is for sure smaller, just my best guess on weight......
