I have 300 head of stockers that I am prepping to run on summer grass, and for the last two weeks, I have had the video guys calling and practically begging me to consign the cattle for the auction.
I find extremely strange and a little weird to have the video auction basically cold calling to get the cattle consigned.
I feel like someone is really worried about not having any cattle later this summer.
I relented today and am going to sell two loads of 775# heifers for August delivery. I told him that they were "no sales" unless the price was $1.27.
That will still leave me with 2+ loads to sale later. I am afraid I am making a mistake selling now, but will make close to $200 per head at this price.
The poker player in me just senses that the buyers are a little desperate for numbers later in the year.
Interesting times, for sure.
