I like the lot 3 heifer. I've thought about putting a bid in on her but I better save for the Jamison sale.

I like the lot 3 heifer. I've thought about putting a bid in on her but I better save for the Jamison sale. You never said which lots in the Jamison sale you had interest in, Ken! Me- I think I'm going to save all my money for Lot #9 in the National Hereford Sale in January. Of course, if LiveAuctions.tv requires paying a subscription fee to view that sale, like they have in the past two years, I'm going to refuse to pay it - so I won't be able to bid on anything! Jay, there's several heifers in that sale I like - and most of them have a lot of Line 1 breeding in them. Good luck! George

Thinking on lot 16 then A-I her to something easy for the first calf and then hit her with the Neon or Kens bull that I cant remember the number on right now.

Jay, I'm going to bet the best buys are going to be in the bred heifers and cows in this sale - mainly because there's no videos or pictures of most of them.
If I could go, Lot #40 would be one I'd like to take a look at.

I thought it was really a mixed bag in terms of type and quality, there are certainly some very good heifer prospects, the bulls are just average and most of the cows I wouldn't have in my commercial herd. What amazes and irritates me is when obvious culls are sold in a sale like this, don't they breeders have an eye at all and can't they see they are damaging their own and the breed's reputation?

Looked like most of the real uglies were Nitros.

George, I had to do a little research to find out what lot 9 was in the Denver sale. I didn't know the catalog was online. You have a good idea, save save save. As far as my picks at Jamison's. I don't need to just buy cows or heifers to increase my herd size. My purchases will be directed in the hopes of bringing something in that would compliment my herd. So I have most of the "premier matrons" in my picks and their daughters. I don't want cows I have to check out of my calving season which will start mid March so that will eliminate a lot of them. I may look at heifer calves more than anything. I was a little surprised how many of the 286 daughters I crossed out. I just figured I'd harass you a little about the Jamison cows, Ken! Actually, I think the Jamisons gave everyone a pretty good road map about which ones were the best cows, or at least the ones that THEY thought were the best, in their catalog designations. I did a quick run through the catalog - and the cow I picked out as a potential donor candidate - and one I thought I might be able to afford - was a 767G daughter. But they didn't shoot a video of her, so I'm . George

George, There a few that don't have any catalog keys on them that are some awfully good cows and are on my list but I'm not telling who they are. ;D. I figured you were jabbing me the first time but it was the second time that got me. I was wondering If you were going to ask me what my limit on them was next. . I figured I was going to tell you I was going packing and see if you called my bluff.

I have no idea what they look like, but there's some really good cattle in their background. George

I like the way she holds her head up and her nice straight top, she looks classy. Only thing that worries me about her pedigree is 637 and 8146 can both throw some extra birth weight. If the 175 bull is the bull you'd consider breeding her to if you get her I think that would make an excellent cross. Cooper got some 175 semen from us and I think he bred a few 637 daughters with it. It will be exciting to see what that cross will do. Yes the 175 bull, Thinking on using him on my 320 son daughters also. The polled cows will get Pauls bull that I got semen from. Cant wait for that cross to.

Jay, Did you get anything bought? No, I didn't even get to go. Had some things go wrong around here and couldn't get away. Does anyone know how it went. Sure would like to know what lot 16 sold for. As well as her half sisters. I figure they sold well. As for selling well, I heard that bred heifers sold the 27th top end commercial was bringing 2,000.00. These would have been angus bred to a hereford bull. Out of my price range.
