Feeders market has been in full retreat for 5-6 weeks.
From 1.60 to 1.40 and no end in sight.....

So... any thoughts on why? In my area the pastures and hay fields are gone, and the corn is severely stunted. If we don't get rain this fall I will be looking to move my herd to N.C. by February if not sooner. I now have a better understanding of what Texas producers have been experiencing.

All I can say is I am so sorry. It is such a helpless feeling. I hope you get good rain sooner rather than later. I just looked at the drought map and we are still D4 here. Keep your head up!!

I should be fine because I do have somewhere to move mine to in another state that had rain. It will be a added expense, but I have worked too long to throw out the baby because of no bath water. The people that I feel bad for are the folks that do not have any options but to sell most or all of their livestock. I fully understand what the folks in the south faced last year. I do think that the producers who are able to keep calves to next spring or fall may reap some exceptional prices.

Very bad here to. did get 1/2 inch ast night but that will not do much good. Already feeding hay. have not supplemented with anything else yet though. did get a good hay crop and can put cows on the hay fields that came back alittle before the rain stoped. hope the market does come back. I think i have enough hay to keep the cows and calves this winter but dont know if I can if we have another drought next year.
