The best Durango daughter I've seen. If they were all like that I would want a son of his. What is her breeding on the bottom side? She has way more frame than the sons of his I've seen.

I like the cow. Don't know much about Boyd Masterpiece, but Boyd Performer is easily the worst breeder I've ever seen.

Thanks for the kind words everyone... Really pleased with her .. When we saw her, I felt she was the best Durango female I had ever seen. The cow was bred by Tommy Mead and is out of an Enyeto daughter out of a Victor Domino bred cow from Jimmy Gillis. Her dam is a stout cow but very correct and nicely balanced. Sure her power enhanced the Durango bull. Don't have a clue how the Masterpiece calf will do but have my fingers crossed. We hope to flush in December but no decision on what bull?... Will have to be a proven bull. Learned my lesson doing that with my Red Angus a few years back....

I did a little online research on Enyeto. See he is a Star Lake bull. Must be one of the good ones. Found a few other good daughters out of him. I always put more emphasis on the dam than I do on the sire when looking at a bull or a female. I agree she is the best Durango I've seen. I've seen a few other good ones and several that were too short and compact. Please post what bull you decide to use.

I am open for suggestions on bulls to use... No Star Lake fan here to say the least but it seemed the proof was in the pudding here.

I had several tell me when I started my search to be careful if I saw any Star Lake breeding in something. And it didn't take long to figure out why. But I have seen a few good ones. Have seen some nice cows of Star Lake breeding. Have also seen a lot of problems in some. Overall though I have seen as many good cattle of their breeding as I have of some of the current hot breeders. I have narrowed down somewhat the bloodlines I have liked and the cattle I have liked to this point. Many of them go back to one breeder. What I'm looking for is something that will work for a commercial operation and have good carcass data on top of maternal traits. The cow in the picture would look good in any herd.

Like what I can find on Bailout for this cow. Thanks George... Are there any pictures of daughters in production? I thought about 719t, 755t, Njw Tank, or Trust for this cow as i have seen a few daughters in production of these bulls. For clarification to those wondering, yes we are still pursuing the Plato Rupert Rwj cattle as well... This is another small but separate herd we are building genetically and frankly testing to see how each system will compare financially and fit our commercial producers need. I really enjoy this forum and appreciate all for their comments.

Which is the reason that I bought a possession and semen interest in the bull when I had an opportunity this fall. He is supposed to be at my place by November 15th. I figured Glenn would have already called me out for "shameless self promotion" here!

Yea, to improve the Plato cattle we will be looking to Mr. Victor Domino. Both lines go back to Mossy Plato 26th. Purest in the Trask line of cattle would have a heart attack if I did anything other than this. It's funny how in the pedigrees of Trask cattle you can find where he went and used a son of Tiberius, Clayton Numode, L1 and a son of Kiyiwana New Trend. It's interesting how he could do that then but the purest would have a fit now. At the end of the day, I'm selecting for type and kind of similar comparison in both herds.

I came across this video today. The cow is a Bailout daughter and her bull calf is sired by a bull that is out of a Bailout daughter - so, doublebred Bailout. Not pasture condition are they. Jay, I think Glenn would agree that when we visited the Langfords - the cows that were actually out in their pastures did not appear to be in "pasture condition" - as in what condition that our cows are in our pastures. Now whether that is testimony to the quality of the cattle, the pastures, or their feeding program...or a combination, I could not say with certainty. I suspect that I wouldn't want to pay their feed bill. I do know that the line on Bailout ...in talking with others about him...is that he is "easy keeping"...and he sires cattle that are also considered as easy keepers. I will let you know more from personal experience in a couple of years.

Thanks for info on Bailout! Not one I was familiar with. After what you all have sent, I plan to do the first flush to him. Probably use 719t or 755t as well as Trust. Then breed back. Any comments on 719 or755T folks? Thanks for the feedback as well on Trust! George, where or whom do I contact for the Bailout semen?
