Just a general note to thank Paul Strojans parents and sister who took time out of their tight schedule on their visit to Aust. to take the time to call by and say hello. I live in a small town (pop. 200) in central NSW. My farm runs right up to the edge of town, thus on some days I can go into town and grab a coffee for morning tea. Imagine my surprise when one of the locals came into the cafe and informed me a car load of americans were asking if he knew me and where could I be found? As it turned out, they had travelled half way around the world, found a very small town off the beaten track, and parked next to my ute in the main street. Couldn't have worked out better! Lovely people. Gave them a quick tour of my cattle and the farm, showed them the barley sprouting shed (our drought stategy), had explained the beef industry in US and the $3.00/lb dividend, we here have just cracked the $2.00/kg barrier, 205 - 210 c/kg actually, thus my envy only increased. Explained to them as soon as our beef hits 600c/kg I will book my ticket to the west coast, and expect some recipricol hospitality, lol. I supplied them with a mud map to Larsos', who not to be outdone, put them up for the night, severe case of one-up-manship if ever I've seen one, lol.
This plesant experience was only made possible through the creation/participation of this forum. thus, once again Glen I thank you for this forum opportunity, without such we would not have had the opportunity to meet the Strojans, and if not we would be much poorer for the lost opportunity.
Just an open invitation to any who have a day to spare if in Aust. Larso and I both enjoy the company. All you have to do is get off the beaten track and head due west of Sydney to you come across a place of culture and learning, lol. Seriously, would really like to meet any of you who come over. As stated earlier, I am certainly hoping to get to US, just waiting for the parity in price, a 200% increase, could take a while.

ya that is pretty neat. did you take a picture to put on here?
we don't have a holiday cottage but Lothair, MT is one of the best kept secrets as far as tourist attractions in MT. a good time to visit would be from say June 20th-ish to August 1st-ish. all you'd need to bring is a heavy pair of leather gloves... we just promise an unforgettable experience. also - the winter months are breath taking... literally breath taking and again all you'd need is a heavy (insulated) pair of leather gloves.

I do believe the Strojans' may have taken a shot or two. If so, maybe Paul could post when they return. Alternatively, Larso may have a shot he could post. How about it Larso.

My parents thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality in Australia. When I get a rainy day, I will try to get a few pictures uploaded.

Finally had a little rain, so here is a batch of pictures that my sister took. I think I will let Sudsy and Larso provide the commentary.

_ Les and myself checking out a calf born only hours earlier. From memory, the calf weighed 38 or 39 kg, a little on the large/heavy side for Les. I would have to agree. High birth weight is a major issue with pollies, an issue high on my priority list. Slowly but surely reducing them each generation.

The photo of the lone cow on the short pasture, (Larsos' pics are the ones with the better pastures, we are approx. 125 kms due west of Larso and the difference in the seasons is quite plain to see and quite startling), I would bring this pic up if only I knew how, is a two year old heifer who has since calved after this shot was taken. Would post my own pics, alas my IT skills or lack there-of do not permit same.
Paul, please pass on my regards and best wshes to your parents and sister. Thank you for posting the photos.

My sister got around to emailing me some more pictures. Sure don't see this in California anymore. Nice looking bull Larso, could you post the pedigree for the Pollies on the forum. By the way if any of you are ever in the area, Farmington is halfway in between Napa and Yosemite. Every February the largest agricultural exhibition in the world takes place a few hours south of us in Tulare. The sheer variety of crops and equipment on display is something to see. Attachments:
