Snapped this with my phone today. Bred heifer due to calf late Feb/March next spring. Never lotted or fed.

You can send her to me in SC and I'll breed her to a JMS bull! Dang good female.

If I ever go POLLED. I am going straight to Danny's place and having him pick out a bull for me and doing it that way. I consider it an honor that he is a member here and consider him one of just a handful of true breeders.
I also thank you for joining and being a member! And thanks for the compliment. I rather like this gal too!! And she just happened to end up in the sort pen from some cows that I was moving so I waited about 15 minutes to get a decent pic where she stood 1/2 way correct.

Glenn, don't know a great deal about the L1's, however that heifer displays good strength behind the shoulder, which in turn leads to ample heart girth, and a wonderfully deep flank, which in turn leads to ample flank girth, quite possibly one of the most important feminine traits.
These are the 'type' of females I consider at the upper spectrum of our breed.
Some may require more muscling, not if it leads to a trade-off of the femininity traits.
Also appears to display ideal pins, hooks, thurl placement.

The front 2/3s of this heifer is damn near perfect, wonder if it would be possible to improve on the rear third without going outside the L1 family?
I would be interested to see this heifer from the rear and from directly above.

I would be interested to see this heifer from the rear and from directly above. I still have some cows to move out of that pasture in the coming days. If she'll cooperate, I'll see what I can do.

She is very nice. To be honest I expected her to be roofy and narrow pinned looking at the profile pic, but she is everything but! Really good heifer and the type I like a bull out of.

I want to preface this by saying that my comments apply to any phenotype wonder, not just Glenn's heifer. If I saw that heifer at auction, I would probably end up letting somebody else buy her and bid on something a bit more plain further down the sale order. Like EPD wonders, phenotype wonders make me uneasy as a focus on looks discounts what is not seen. My favorite cows were unremarkable heifers: not to big, not to small, not to coarse, and not to feminine. In short, I can't predict if a heifer will turn out.

That is a nice heifer there Glenn. Who wouldn't want a handful of them around?

Did she calve? Curious as to the sire and what your thoughts are on the calf. Is it going to be in the "bull for sale pen" next year or in the replacement heifer pen.

Hasn't calved yet but since she didn't calve to AI she will calve to this bull: Only pic I could find. He was 10 months old in this picture. I don't think the calf whether bull or heifer will be going backwards on width or volume.

Good base width and bone. Not too bad a head considering the handicap he started with. ?

I'm sure some of you noticed from the eartags, but the calf will be a half sib (paternal side) mating. I had her AI'ed to 501 so I know George will be disappointed that didn't work out.
And yes (Randy!LOL) taking the AI course is on my "to do" list!

This year's maternal sister to the 20B bull pictured above. Snapped this morning (3-26-16) I canned the A-B-C numbering system and went back to 601-602-603 ect... Just seems easier 5-6-7 years down the road when looking at cows and knowing their age.....

Well, I guess ya'll can start sending in your bids on the calf today. She had a bull calf. I can't seem to have heifers around here. If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.......

Glenn after today is over maybe you can take a pic and post it. When I saw the first sentence I thought I was going to get to bid on a heifer. LOL

Like you all the anticipated calves never have full pigment here, either. ?
