This is the Cattle Industry today and the future of the Cattle Industry.... (View the video) www.snakeriverfarms.com/about/about-us Where is your herd and where is the Hereford breed? This is something every cattleman should be thinking about.... __________________________________________________________________ www.farmtofork.com/farm-to-fork-gala-dinner/ (View the slide show) Are the Certified Hereford Beef leaders getting into these^^^^ events. __________________________________________________________________ This is a wonderful example of promoting Hereford Beef locally. Katie Cooper and the crew at Cooper Hereford Ranch hosted a Farm to Table Field Dinner last summer. www.pitchforksandpomegranates.com/field-dinners/ View the photos and think of what you can do in your area to promote Hereford Beef. Word of mouth advertising is such a powerful thing. We just have to get the words in the mouths....

I appreciate the direct marketing and can see where it would work for some producers, but $80 for 4 filets is kinda pricey for the average American family.

Glenn, I must have not gotten my message out. The point I was trying to make is everyone needs to form alliances in marketing to the end consumer. We need to get our beef in the mouths of the people actually eating beef today. The market for beef has changed with the economy and the rising consumer cost of animal protein. We as the producer have to face what is going on in the market and adjust. The cold hard truth is that the average American family is not eating beef as often and they most often do not eat cuts beyond hamburger. I have gone to the markets in the populated areas and watched consumer meat selection. I have visited with consumers about their meat choices. I have visited with meat managers in the larger chain stores here. I have visited the restaurant supply fresh meat businesses. The one thing I hear today from many is "Beef, that's rich man's food". The people that are eating beef are the people who rather than make dinner they make a reservation for dinner. Many of the consumers that eat beef regularly also eat 7-14 meals away from home each week. This is the reason I put the Agri-Beef Video up. I followed it with the Farm to Fork Gala Dinner Event in Sacramento. then I followed with Katie Cooper's Field dinner. My opinion on marketing Hereford beef is that we need to get it in the mouths of the people actually eating beef. That means getting it exposed to people who actually have the resource to eat cuts beyond hamburger on a daily basis. I do not believe we can continue to ride the wave from CAB with our CHB. Following the leader has never been a great choice if you wanted to get somewhere. The truth about CAB today is that it has become a generic term. Today when I see a CAB logo in a store or restaurant it actually means little to me. The CAB sign is much like a "Good Food" sign along the interstate advertising a cafe. The "Good Food" means nothing until you have tried it for yourself. We all can do something to promote Hereford beef. We can help our bull customers by forming alliances etc. We can form alliances with local and regional chefs etc. Find a young chef that is hungry to make a name for himself and get him involved. Host a Farm to Fork Dinner etc. I believe that we have to take the lead and do this on our own. If we sit home and wait on "The Association" or any association for that matter. We will be waiting a long damned time.

Here is another example of the Industry Alliances..... Burgerville..... They actually list their suppliers on their website... The Beef from Country Natural Beef. www.burgerville.com/sustainable-business/partners/www.countrynaturalbeef.com/partners.html I realize most of you have never had the opportunity to eat at a Burgerville.... If you are in Oregon/ Washington area do not pass it up. It is a very educational experience on how Alliances work well for the industry.
