I just wish there was a way to screen some of these ads It makes you sick to see some of these animals for sale. Do these people realize what they are trying to sell

Some of them are pretty bad. But it's not just Herefords. I am on several commercial sites and they have some piss poor animals of every breed and color for sale out there.

Plenty of cattle for sale especially by backyard breeders that are totally unacceptable. They have a "Crowbait" that they think is the greatest thing that walked.

I just wish there was a way to screen some of these ads It makes you sick to see some of these animals for sale. Do these people realize what they are trying to sell I have just started a Facebook Group for selling Herefords - by private treaty only. I did this in an effort to separate those type ads from all the sale promotions and overzealous self promotion that takes place in the other group. I have the group settings set so I must approve each ad before it gets posted. But, right now, I do not intend to screen those ads for quality. I do expect the seller to post a picture, location, and a price, but if their animals look like crap, so be it. We are still small in number < 200 members, but I expect we will grow pretty rapidly with folks looking for private treaty sellers. It would be hard to monitor places like craigslist and the Facebook Groups for quality. And that one Facebook group can't seem to even keep the sunglasses spammers out. Since there is no cost for the ads, that is where the crap is going to collect. In fact, at the Lone Star dispersion, I buttonholed Dennis Schock regarding some of the no-walking POSes that were being posted on the buyhereford.com site sponsored by the AHA. His reply to me was basically if a member had the money for the fees, he would put the sale up without regard to quality.

George do you mind sharing the name of the site. You could also pm me if you prefer. The Group's Name is: Hereford Cattle For Sale - By Private treaty Only! The link is: www.facebook.com/groups/905060446205429/I'm pretty sure that you have to be a member of Facebook, and signed in, to see it. Everyone is welcome to join, and I encourage you to add any of your Facebook friends that you think would be interested in the group as members. The more folks we have, the better results that we will get for those selling their cattle via private treaty.

Great facebook site George, you should be congratulated for getting something like this off the ground. I would like to start something similar here in AUS, would you mind if I sent you a PM and discussed it a bit more.
