That surprises me Hoekland, I thought you like a lot of loin on your cows.

What surprises me is that at least one of the "numbers breeders" hasn't asked for her EPDs, yet?

Feed conversion probably isn't as good as one might expect. I would have to cull her.

Glenn: This is one of the most valuable posts on Hereford Talk! Now I am starting to understand what the judge at the show says: "This female easily has the most capacity. The stoutest; soggiest one I have seen today............."
HELLO.........................................SHOW RING COMMITTEE!
"I may not be right......................................................................bit I'm dam sure!"

Glenn, You opened my mind to a conversation I had with David Largent in maybe 73-74. We were the official judges for a field day judging contest in Utah. We were going back through the groups of cattle giving our reasons for placings. We had visited about a class of cows with heifer calves all sired by the same bull. David began his reasons with. "You can always pick the mothers, maybe not the sires." "You should pick your cows like you pick your girlfriends". He then went on to explain the basics of a solid cow. Fredia Largent was smiling all the way through his reasons. I think she thought he had done a great job at getting his point understood.
Glenn, lol... I sure hope many don't use the photo you posted as an example. if they do there will be many cows getting "the gate" and sent to the "pickle factory"...lol
