Does anyone know the registration number of the hereford bull "vindicator" that was used in the making of the movie Rare Breed. That is my all time favorite movie. I am wondering if there is any semen from him or if there ever was any. Thanks in advance.

I have it as a DVD and the credits are just the actors.

Typically they will use multiple animals in movies. In one of my favorite films Hidalgo there were I think 5 different horses used for the lead role. Just doing a quick search on Vindicator I found a movie trivia site that stated one of the "Vindicators" was in fact a steer.
Thanks for bringing this up, because I found two must see cattle movies trying to find Vindicator. The Untamed Breed- movie about a Brahman bull that terrorizes Texas ranchers The Longhorn= movie about a Wyoming rancher purchasing Hereford in Oregon to cross with his Longhorns
Given the date of the film it would be a lot easier to find a bull like Vindicator than having any success with his semen. If you are serious I would look at records of Hereford ranches in southern California at the time.

if I recall correctly, there was an article about the movie and the animals used in the Hereford Journal about the time the movie was released.

I'd like to know too - my Mum loved this film and so did I!

Again, going from memory, and I AM getting old, I do not believe the featured animal used had "Vindicator" in his registered name at all. I remember the release of this film, as it first came out in Fort Worth, TX and the local D-FW media made a pretty big deal about it. I was freshman in high school and everyone knew that we had registered Hereford cattle, so there was a good bit of discussion once it came to the local movie theaters. But the first time I actually saw it was when it was shown on TV.
