Just a few miscellaneous pics from the last few weeks. As some know I sold the farm and bought a new one where it rains, this now meant that I had to start planting small grains for hay and baleage as although it is extremely wet in winter here, it doesn't rain a drop in summer. The house, it used to be a dairy and boutique cheese factory, converted it into my house, my parents live in the original house. My faithful companion, Knersie, is now 11 years old. Hopefully the next generation Hereford breeder. A heifer that I rate very highly, showed her at the Nationals, was a little undercooked at the time, placed 4th in a very big class. Did not want to cooperate when my wife took the photos. Young bull (old English genetics) that I am using, 23 months old, his first calves are due in a few weeks time. Old Grumpy himself

Cattle and country look very good. We would enjoy seeing pedigree on 2yr old "English Bull".

Your ranch looks like a postcard photo. English bull from the 1970's that looks like yours.

It's hard to get used to seeing horns on your cattle. Really like the way they look though. Looks like you made a good move.

I rarely show nowadays as its just too expensive and I swim upstream from the rest, but I sold a son of 0917 to another breeder that showed him at our Nationals. Just a few miscellaneous pics from the last few weeks. Old Grumpy himself cow hocked... toes out in stride... real weak and broke bad behind the front shoulders... funnel butted... short knecked... looks more like an old cow than a sire. not the type to hack it in the 10" kinda country, 32" maybe. my guess is either straight polled or L1 but definately grumpy old bast...

I may have all those faults, Mate, but no-one can doubt my constitution, I got fat in 10" country.

Heck those comments are a bit hash, Sudsy and I were trying to work out what position you played. Hooker or Tight Head Prop? We both agreed there was no chance you had NO 15 on your back.

I actually played on the flank for the most of my rugby career, but I have also played tight head prop, loose head prop, on the wing and even a few games flyhalf. I was a much better cricketer than rugby player and probably could have made a career of it hadn't it been for injury and a dislike for fitness training.

If you work outside in our environment you will look like me and John Bonham (the drummer for the rock band Led Zeppelin who is in the photo I posted with the Horned Hereford). If you are carrying 50 extra pounds of fat or muscle you will drop dead. During August it is like living on your own planet between sunrise and sunset because nobody is outside except me and the Mexicans. Just curious why you made the move to horned? The bulls you posted a while back were fairly impressive and appeared to be moderately framed. Was it the muscle issue?

I think you underestimate our summer heat. I'm still breeding mostly polls and still linebreed to the bull you've posted, I've just added a horned line as well angus to spread bullsales to a wider customer base.

I really like your old stuff and am glad to hear that you are keeping it going. The killer is the dew point and the humidity. It can be only 85 degrees Fahrenheit and your entire body will be soaked in sweat down to your socks and underwear. I grew up playing soccer and was a decent midfielder in my day. Here is a photo of yours truly. Fire away. Yes, I cut my own hair haha.
