Glenn, This sure makes sense to us. You have to be able to look at, and live with their type, first. If that isn't palatable, it doesn't matter what is in their pedigree.

I agree with the article, I have met some who have stopped registering their cattle, but I will always like to be able to view my pedigrees since I can remember what the animals looked like in type, good or bad. Visual appraisal should be used in making breeding decisons not EPD's or just looking at a pedigree where you don't have a clue what the animals look like. It is much easier to evaluate the animals in a pedigree if they were all raised on your own place.
