My Aunt in Oklahoma says it reminds her of the beginning of the Dust Bowl.. she was born in 1921 and saw the worst of it..

Randy here in extreme SW KS the last 5 years have been drier than any five year period during the dust bowl. The odd part is we got moved from D4 to D3. But we are on the edge. Have had over 7 inches here a big improvement over the previous five years but no subsoil moisture and with the wind and heat of the last week about all of the moisture is gone even in the deep sand. Thankful for every drop.

Sorry Glenn, I have tried to reason with the storm clouds here the past month and begged them to take a detour and head your way but they just won't listen!

I am in a D1 and a D2 area... I have good friends in the D3 area and their ranches look like the moon right now.. We are lucky to have irrigation water, but the canals will be without water by the end of the month. we have had exceptional hay crops, but with no water that leaves the 3rd and 4th crop in doubt. our garden looks heavenly though...Thanks to a garden hose and well water. We are very fortunate that we can grow some of our own food here in the country. droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Home/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?ID
