I think he looks good and he came from a good place! I bid on a couple maternal brothers to him a few months ago but didn't get them. I'm going to flush a cow to one of his maternal brothers.

I really like this bulls dam. I thought she was one of the better females I had been around. You have a good foundation for a cow herd there if he breeds anything like his parents...

Thanks for comments . I think I may get a registered cow to go with him for fun. I was thinking a 3027 daughter if I could afford one or maybe a 175e. What would you guys suggest ? Also would a 8050u daughter be to closely related since his dam is a full sister?

Also would a 8050u daughter be to closely related since his dam is a full sister? All three bulls you mentioned sire good females. I'd probably just recommend you get the best you can and don't get too hung up on who the sire is. If you get a 8050 daughter a mating with your new bull would probably be 29% IC or less.

Sweet deal for me. In two years I get to pick one of his daughters out of one of Ryan's Gert cross cows.

CircleH, what are your plans for the calves? All terminal? If you're planning on retaining heifers, how will you breed them? Hereford, SG, other?

CircleH, what are your plans for the calves? All terminal? If you're planning on retaining heifers, how will you breed them? Hereford, SG, other? Bull calves will be cut for sale barn. Heifers will be sold private treaty. I have been told ( and saw for myself) that herfeord x gert cows with a char bull crush the scales for terminal calves. Also heard good things about black bulls over them as well. A lot of milk with gert x hereford Mommas and you get better disease resistance then with straight hereford and a calmer animal then strait gert . Plus calves will not show much ear . Our local Brangus ranch said he would love to have a field full for recipient cows.
